The first paper runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the second from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Both papers are compulsory, cover physics, chemistry, and mathematics, and are conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. Miss one paper, and your candidature is as good as cancelled, no exceptions, no appeals.

When Does It Release and Where Do You Get It?

The admit card will be available from May 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST until May 17, 2026, at 2:30 PM. That's a window of six days but don't treat it as a reason to delay. Download it the evening it drops, check every detail, and print it immediately.

How to Download the JEE Advanced Admit Card?

Head directly to the official website jeeadv.ac.in. Never trust third-party links or coaching institute portals for this. Once you're on the site, you'll need to log in using: 

Follow these steps carefully on May 11 once the window opens at 5:00 PM:

1. Go to jeeadv.ac.in directly in your browser. 

2. On the homepage, look for the admit card download link or notification. Click on it to proceed to the login page.

3. You will be required to enter the following details to access your admit card:

• Your JEE Advanced Registration Number (and possibly your JEE Main Application Number, keep both ready)

• Your Date of Birth in the format specified on the portal

• Your Registered Mobile Number

1. Once logged in, your admit card will appear on screen. Before you download or print it, read through every single detail carefully. Check the following:

• Your full name spelling must be exactly correct

• Your photograph should be clearly visible and recognisable

• Your signature

• Your date of birth and category

• Your assigned exam centre name and full address

• Reporting times for Paper 1 and Paper 2

• Any specific exam day instructions printed on the card

1. Download the admit card as a PDF and print a colour copy because your photograph must be clearly visible for verification at the center.

JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Day Schedule

The gates close 2 hours before Paper 1, that is, by 7:00 AM, and 1 hour before Paper 2, which means by 1:30 PM. Once the gates are closed, no candidate is allowed to enter after that.

Reach the exam center at least 30–40 minutes before the entry window opens. You will go through frisking, document verification, and biometric registration before you even reach the lab. All of this takes time, especially when hundreds of candidates arrive simultaneously.

You are not allowed to leave the exam hall before 12:00 PM for Paper 1 and before 5:00 PM for Paper 2—even if you finish early. Stay in your seat.

Exam Day Guidelines for JEE Advanced 2026

1. Computer Login: When you sit at your assigned system, the screen will show your name, picture, and roll number. Verify all three before logging in. Your login ID is your JEE Advanced roll number, and the password is your date of birth. You can log in and read the instructions 20 minutes before the paper begins, don't skip this window.

2. Scribble Pad: All rough work must be done on the scribble pad provided at your desk. No extra pad will be issued. Nothing written on it counts towards evaluation. Submit it to the invigilator at the end of each paper; this is mandatory.

3. Fingerprint Verification: Before each paper, your biometric verification will be done. Make sure your hands are clean before giving fingerprints. These same fingerprints will be used later during JEE Advanced 2026 counselling, so the record is important even after the test. 

4. CBT Interface The computer-based interface allows you to move between questions freely, flag them for later review, and change answers anytime before final submission. You can also switch the display language between English and Hindi at any point during the paper. If your system freezes or the mouse stops responding, raise your hand immediately technical support is available at every centre, and your exam time will not be deducted for a genuine technical issue.

5. Dress Code: Wear light-coloured, half-sleeved, comfortable clothes. Avoid large buttons, heavy embroidery, logos, or complex patterns. Female candidates should wear simple kurtas with jeans, leggings, or palazzos avoid dupattas, as they slow down the frisking process. Avoid all kinds of jewellery.

6. Footwear: Shoes are not permitted inside the examination hall. Wear open footwear like chappals, sandals, or floaters. This is clearly stated in official guidelines, and candidates have been turned away at the gate for ignoring it.

What to Carry on JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Day?

This is the checklist that sits between you and your seat in the examination hall. Carry all of these:

Must-Have Documents:

1. Printed Admit Card: Colour printout, as mentioned. Not a photo on your phone. An actual printed copy.

2. Original Photo ID: This is non-negotiable. Acceptable IDs include Aadhaar card, PAN card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License. It must be original, not a photocopy or a digital copy. The name on your ID should match the name on the admit card.

3. Two Passport-Sized Photographs: Carry at least two recent photographs with a white background. These may be required for attendance sheets or other centre-level verification.

For Specific Categories:

• PwD (Persons with Disability) candidates: Carry your UDID card or disability certificate. If you have applied for a scribe, carry the relevant scribe request forms and supporting documents.

• OBC-NCL and GEN-EWS candidates: Your category certificate must have been issued on or after April 1, 2026. An older certificate will not be accepted. This catches a lot of candidates off-guard, so double-check the date on your certificate now, before exam day.

• SC/ST candidates: Carry your caste certificate in the prescribed format.

Personal Items:

• A transparent water bottle (some centres allow this; verify on your admit card instructions)

• A simple analog wristwatch though some centres may not allow this either, so read the admit card guidelines

• Any prescribed medication (carry a doctor's prescription)

What is Strictly Not Allowed Inside the JEE Advanced Exam Hall?

This list is just as important as the carry list. Bringing prohibited items can get you disqualified on the spot.

• Mobile phones, smartwatches, fitness bands, or any electronic device

• Calculators, even basic ones

• Earphones, Bluetooth devices

• Study material of any kind notes, books, printed sheets

• Geometry boxes, rulers, or drawing instruments (unless specifically needed and mentioned in your admit card for AAT-related sessions)

• Wallets with too many cards (some centres ask you to leave them outside)

• Handbags or backpacks inside the hall  most centres have locker facilities or designated areas outside the hall

How to Manage the Six-Hour Marathon?

There is roughly a two-and-a-half-hour gap between Paper 1 ending at 12:00 PM and Paper 2 beginning at 2:30 PM. 

The most counterproductive thing you can do is discuss Paper 1 with others. Comparing answers, replaying questions you might have gotten wrong, or stressing about your performance in the morning paper drains the mental energy you need for the afternoon. Paper 1 is done. It cannot be changed. What you can control is how you enter Paper 2.

Find a quiet spot, sit down, and breathe. Eat something light. Sip water steadily throughout the day. Dehydration reduces concentration more quickly, and six hours is a long time without proper hydration. Avoid heavy food during the break; it can slow down thinking for an afternoon exam.

Give your brain a genuine rest. Close your eyes for ten minutes if you can. Avoid your phone, avoid discussions, and resist the temptation to review your scribble pad. Walk into the Paper 2 hall, treating it as a completely fresh exam.
