Passage / Comprehension

Chief ore of zinc is zinc blende (ZnS). The ore is concentrated by the froth flotation process and then heated in air to convert ZnS to ZnO.

2ZnS + 3O2 → 2ZnO + 2SO2 .............(i)

(i) The ZnO thus formed is treated with dilute sulphuric acid :

ZnO + H2SO4 → ZnSO4 + H2O........ ..(ii)

On electrolysis of zinc sulphate, zinc metal is produced :

ZnSO4 +  H2O → Zn + H2SO4+ O2 ........ (iii)

How many kmoles of NaOH are required to dissolve all the ZnO produced in reaction (i) ?

Answer:
4.62
Solution:
