An amount of 0.01 mole of SO₂Cl₂ is hydrolysed completely in sufficient water (no gas is allowed to escape out) and the solution is diluted to 200 ml. Which of the following statement is/are correct? (Ag = 108)
Options:(select one or more)
Answer:
A, B, C, D
Solution:
SO₂Cl₂ + 2H₂O H₂SO₄ + 2HCl. So 0.01 mol gives 0.01 mol H₂SO₄ (0.05 M in 200 ml - (a) true) and 0.02 mol HCl (0.1 M - (b) true). (c) 20 ml contains 1 mmol H₂SO₄ + 2 mmol HCl = 4 mmol H⁺; 20 ml x 0.2 M NaOH = 4 mmol - true. (d) 100 ml contains 0.01 mol Cl⁻ 0.01 mol AgCl = 0.01 x 143.5 = 1.435 g - true. All four are correct.
