CO2gas is liquefied at27oC. Gas follows the following graph during liquefaction for 1 mole ofCO2.

Then which statement is (are) correct in gaseous phase will
(i) The maximum density of gas is 0.1 gm/ml
(ii) The density of liquidCO2is 1 g/ml at 60 atm.
(iii) At point C 50% ofCO2is liquefied.
(iv) The compressibility factor of gas at27oCis always less than 1.
Which of the above is/are correct

Options:

Answer:
C
Solution:

AMaximum density ofCO2in gaseous phase will be at point 'A'
Now:d=PMRT=60×44R×300=107 gm/lt=0.107 gm/cc
Ord=mass of gasVolume of gas=44 gm440 cc=0.1
BDensity of liquidCO2at 60 atm (at point B)
At point B there will be only liquidCO2. So we can find out the density of density of liquidCO2only at point B.
d= M V = 44 0.044 =1 gm/cc
Cat point C the volume will be 0.44+0.044 2 0.22L
And pressure is same so obviously approx. half ofCO2is liquified
DZ can be greater than 1 at27οC. For example at point 'A' Z is 1.07, So wrong.
