In excess Cl⁻, B = [NiCl₄]²⁻ is formed. Cl⁻ is a weak-field ligand, so the complex is tetrahedral (sp³) with 2 unpaired electrons.

Therefore, A is diamagnetic and B is paramagnetic with two unpaired electrons.
