An intrauterine device (IUD) is a small, flexible plastic or stainless steel frame which is inserted in the uterine cavity. In copper IUDs, CuT, Multiload 375, the copper wire is put on the frame. Copper IUD device is also called as Paragard and is T shaped. The copper wire coiled around the frame produces an inflammatory reaction which is toxic to the sperm and eggs thereby preventing pregnancy.
