The angle made by the vector on $x \mathrm{axis}$ is 

$\theta =90°-30°=60°$

$x$ component is $$\begin{gathered} a_x=a\cos 60° \\ \Rightarrow a_x=4\times \frac{1}{2}=2 \end{gathered}$$
