A blockAtakes2 sto slide down a frictionless incline of30°and lengthl, kept inside a lift going up with uniform velocityv. If the incline is changed to45°, the time taken by the block, to slide down the incline, will be approximately:

Options:

Answer:
C
Solution:

As per the information given in the question the lift is moving upward with uniform velocity. Therefore, the frame of reference attached to the lift is an inertial frame of reference. The acceleration of the block down the incline will be,

a=gsinθ

Using equation of motion for constant acceleration,

s=ut+12at2

l=12gsin30°22       ...1

When the inclination is changed to 45°,

l=12gsin45°t2       ...2

Equating the above equations,

12gsin30°22=12gsin45°t2

124=12t2t=22=1.68 s
