If a new planet is discovered rotating around the sun with the orbital radius double that of earth, then what will be its time period (in earth's days)?

Options:

Answer:
A
Solution:

From Kepler's third law of planetary motion

      T2∝R3

Given,  Rp=2Re

∴   Te2Tp2=Re3Rp3

⟹ Te2Tp2=Re32Re3
⟹ Tp=22 Te

Since,  Te=365 days=1 year, we have

Tp=22×365 days

 Tp=1032.37

TP=1032 days
