If the work done in blowing a soap bubble of volumeVisW, then the work done in blowing a soap bubble of volume2Vunder the same conditions will be

Options:

Answer:
D
Solution:

The work done will be against surface tension and we know that surface tension is related to work as W=T×∆A
Since, the surface area of sphere is 4πR2 and there are two free surfaces, we have

W=T×8πR2      ...(i)
and volume of sphere =43πR3

i.e. V=43πR3

⇒R=3V4π1/3   ...(ii)

From Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

W=T×8π×3V4π2/3

⇒  W∝V2/3

∴ W1∝V12/3

and, W2∝V22/3

W2W1=2V1V12/3

⇒W2=22/3W1=41/3W
