In the network shown in the figure, each resistance is1 Ω. The effective resistance betweenAandBis

Options:

Answer:
D
Solution:

AtA current is distributed and at B currents are collected. BetweenA and B, the distribution is symmetrical, as shown in the figure. It appears that current inAOandOBremains the same. AtO, currenti4returns back without any change. If we detachOfromABthere will not be any change in the distribution.
Now,CO&OD will be in series hence it's total resistance = 2 Ω
It is in parallel with CD, so, equivalent resistance =2×12+1=23 Ω
This equivalent resistance is in series with AC & DB, so, the total resistance=23+1+1=83 Ω

.
Now,83 Ω is parallel toAB, that is,2 Ω, so total resistance

=8/3×28/3+2=16/314/3=1614=87 Ω
