For real numbers a, ba>b>0, let

Area x, y:x2+y2a2 and x2a2+y2b21=30π

and

Area x, y:x2+y2b2 and x2a2+y2b21=18π

Then the value of a-b2 is equal to _____.

Answer:
12.00
Solution:

We know that area of circle =πr2 (r is radius of circle) and area of ellipse =πab (where a & b are length of semi major and semi minor axis)

Now given area between circle and ellipse  πa2-πab=30π  .....(i)

And πab-πb2=18π ....(ii)

On subtracting equation (i) - (ii), we get a-b2=a2-2ab+b2=12.
