Consider information of given two solid salts i.e. salt A and salt B
SALT A - It exist as tetra hydrated form and freely soluble in water, aqueous solution of salt-A initially produce white precipitated (P1 ) with NaOH(aq.) , which is rapidly oxidizes on expose to air and becoming brown precipitate (P2 )
Another sample of aqueous salt-A produce white precipitate with BaCl2(aq.) + dil. HCl(aq.) . After separation of white precipitate resulting solution gives coloured sulphide precipitate (P3 ) with H 2S only in ammonical medium (NH4 OH + NH4Cl). precipitate (P3 ) is soluble in CH3 COOH(aq) .
SALT B - It is dissolve in water but when its aqueous solution is treated by KI dropwise initially black precipitate is form which is rapidly soluble in excess KI to gives orange solution-S1 . Another sample of aqueous solution of salt-B produces white precipitate (Q 1) with NaOH. White precipitate (Q1) produces orange brown solution-S2 with conc. H2O2 . Anion of salt-B produce white precipitate with lead nitrate which is soluble on addition of hot water.
When acidified aqueous solution of SALT-A is boiled with orange brown solution- . What is the sum of the oxidation number of both the metals of unknown salts (A) & (B) in product side.
