During extraction of Cu from copper pyrite, copper matte is formed which is a mixture of and FeS . If during such process copper matte contains of Cu by mass and above matte is further processed in Bessemer converter, where following reaction occurs in excess of oxygen.

FeS + O₂ → FeO + SO₂

Cu₂S + O₂ → 2CuO + SO₂

FeO + SiO₂ → FeSiO₃

In the above process, SiO₂ acts as a flux (used to remove the impurity of FeO). Find the mass of SiO₂ (in kg) that should be added per 100 kg of copper matte. (Round off to the nearest integer)

(Cu = 63.5, Fe = 56, S = 32, Si = 28)

Answer:
34
