For charging of lead storage battery cell reaction is $2 PbSO_{4} (s) + 2 H_{2} O (l) \to Pb (s) + PbO_{2} (s) + 2 H_{2} SO_{4} (aq)$ At anode $PbSO_{4}$ reduced back to Pb and at cathode $PbSO_{4}$ oxidised back to $PbO_{2}$ .
