Given below are two statements :

Statement-I : Methane and steam passed over a heated Ni catalyst produces hydrogen gas.

Statement-II : Sodium nitrite reacts with NH4Cl to give H2O, N2 and   NaCl.

In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below :

Options:

Answer:
D
Solution:

In steam-methane reforming, methane reacts with steam under  325 bar pressure in the presence of a nickel catalyst to produce hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and a relatively small amount of carbon dioxide. Steam reforming is endothermic, that is, heat must be supplied to the process for the reaction to proceed.

NaNO2+NH4ClN2+NaCl+H2O

as NH4NO2N2+H2O

Hence, both the statements are correct.
