There are four major ways through which an organism can cope with stressful conditions:
By regulating the constant body temperature, by changing their body temperature with ambient temperature found in animals that cannot maintain constant body temperature known as conforming, some animals migrate to the comfortable area and return when the stressful period gets over, by forming thick walled spores that help to survive in stressful condition (e.g. in bacteria, fungi and lower plants) and this response is called 'suspend'. The response observed here is migration. During winter many animals, especially birds, take on long distance migration to friendlier environment.
