The filtrate from the distal convoluted tubule enters the collecting tubule, where further reabsorption of water occurs. Now the filtration becomes more concentrated, which makes the filtrate hypertonic. If the collecting duct becomes less permeable to water, more diluted urine will be formed (hypotonic).
