The renin–angiotensin mechanism to increase blood pressure involves organs in the following order:
Options:
Answer:
A
Solution:
In response to a decrease in blood pressure or GFR, the kidneys release renin. Renin acts on the liver and converts angiotensinogen into angiotensin I. In the lungs, angiotensin I is converted to angiotensin II with the help of an angiotensin-converting enzyme. Angiotensin II is a vasoconstrictor and also stimulates the adrenal gland which releases aldosterone. Aldosterone acts on the kidneys and helps in the absorption of sodium ions. Thus, this mechanism increases blood pressure.
