Answer:
Solution:
Hypothalamus is a master of master endocrine gland i.e. the pituitary gland. All the hormonal secretion from the pituitary are directly or indirectly under the influence of hypothalamus. This is connected to the pituitary via stalk known as infundibulum. The pituitary gland consists of two parts: adenohypophysis and neurohypophysis. Adenohypophysis releases many hormones like GH, TSH, ACTH, PRL, FSH, LH etc. These are released under the influence of releasing and inhibiting hormones of hypothalamus. These hormones reach the pituitary through hypothalami-hypophyseal portal system. Example : Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) is released when thyroid releasing hormone (TRH) is released from hypothalamus.
