Answer:
C
Solution:
Adrenocorticotropin or adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH): It is secreted by corticotroph cells of the anterior pituitary. It is made up of 39 amino acid polypeptides. Its secretion is prompted by a corticotrophin-release hormone (CRH) of the hypothalamus. Its role is to intensify synthesis of adrenal cortical hormones, particularly the glucocorticoids. The secretion of ACTH is stimulated by low blood level of glucose, shock conditions and presence of a compound called interleukin-1 (IL-1) secreted by macrophages.
