Options:
Answer:
A
Solution:
Glucagon is a hormone secreted by alpha cells of pancreas. Its main function is to help the body cells to utilize glucose. It does so by various methods. The main function is to breakdown glycogen from liver or muscles inorder to produce glucose. If reserves of glycogen is less then glucagon tries to form glucose from other means. This includes gluconeogenesis i.e. formation of glucose from non-carbohydrate source like amino acids, lactate, fats etc. If fats are broken down this is known as lipolysis. Protein synthesis does not depend on glucagon it is formed from amino acids.
