What is the reason for using restriction endonucleases as a tool for genetic engineering?
Options:
Answer:
B
Solution:
An endonuclease is a biocatalyst protein that is able to identify a specific, short nucleotide sequence, and it makes cuts at that site of the DNA sequence. DNA sequencing pattern is the same in all organisms known to contain DNA as genetic material. Thus, these enzymes can act as a cutter for desired DNA sequence coding for a particular gene which then can be placed in the genome of the desired organism. The DNA fragments can be joined by enzyme DNA ligase. Restriction endonucleases do not act on protein; rather, they act on DNA.
