When it hits the horizontal surface, its velocity makes an angle of 30° with the horizontal. Apart from gravity, a horizontal force acts on the particle during the motion (g = 10 m/s $^{2}$ ).

Vertical motion is unaffected by the horizontal force: the particle returns to the same level with $v_{y} = 20 sin 6 0^{\circ} = 103 m/s$ . At 30° to the horizontal:

$tan 3 0^{\circ} = \frac{v _{y}}{v _{x}} \Rightarrow v_{x} = 30 m/s$

$v = 3 0^{2} + (103)^{2} = 1200 = 203 m/s$
