The displacementx(in metre) of a particle in simple harmonic motion is related to timet(in second) as

x=0.01cos⁡πt+π4

The frequency of the motion will be

Options:

Answer:
A
Solution:

The standard equation in SHM is

x=acos⁡(ωt+ϕ)...(i)

Whereais amplitude,ωthe angular velocity and (ϕ) the phase difference.

Also,ω=2πT  where Tis periodic time.

So, Eq. (i) becomes

x=acos⁡2πtT+ϕ...(ii)

Given, the equation is

x=0.01cos⁡2πt2+π4...(iii)

Comparing Eq. (ii) with Eq. (iii), we get

2πtT=2πt2

⇒ T=2 s

So, frequencyn=1T=12=0.5 Hz
