The acceleration due to gravity on the planetAis9times the acceleration due to gravity on planetB. A man jumps to a height of2 mon the surface ofA. What is the height of jump by the same on the planetB?

Options:

Answer:
D
Solution:

It is given that, acceleration due to gravity on planeAis9times the acceleration due to gravity on the planetB, i.e.,

gA=9gB.... (i)

From the 3rd equation of motion, we have

v2=2gh

At planetA,

hA=v22gA.... (ii)

At planetB,

hB=v22gB.... (iii)

Dividing equation (ii) by equation (iii), we get

hAhB=gBgA

From equation (i),gA=9gB

hAhB=gB9gA=19⇒hB=9hA=9×2=18 m
