A100 Wsodium lamp radiates energy uniformly in all directions. The lamp is located at the centre of a large sphere that absorbs all the sodium light which is incident on it. The wavelength of the sodium light is589 nm. At what rate are the photons associated with the sodium light?

Options:

Answer:
A
Solution:

Given, power of lamp,p=100 W

The wavelength of the sodium light, λ = 5 8 9 nm = 589×10-9 m

Planck constanth=6.63×10-34 J s

Let n photons are delivered per second.

∴ n = Power Energy of each photon (From P = En)

=1003.38×10-19=3×1020 photon s-1

 =3×1020 photon s-1are delivered.
