Two long parallel wires carrying currents8 Aand15 Ain opposite directions are placed at a distance of7 cmfrom each other. A pointPis at equidistant from both the wires such that the lines joining the pointPto the wires are perpendicular to each other. The magnitude of magnetic field atPis ______×10-6 T. (Given:2=1.4)

Question diagram: Two long parallel wires carrying currents 8 A and 15 A in op
Answer:
68.00
Solution:

Here, the magnetic fields produced by the two wires will be perpendicular to one another.

Magnetic field due to wire carrying current 8 A is B1=μ0i12πd

and magnetic field due to wire carrying current 15 A is B2=μ0i22πd

The net magnetic field is

Bnet=B12+B22=μ02πdi12+i22

=4π×10-72π×72×10-2×82+152 d=72 cm

=68×10-6  T.
