$S = ut + \frac{1}{2} at^{2}$ $\Rightarrow 3 = - u (3) + \frac{1}{2} \times 10 (3)^{2}$ $∴ u = 14 m / s$ $v^{2} - u^{2} = 2 as$ $0 - 1 4^{2} = 2 (- 10) s$ $∴ s = 9.8 m$ $∴ h_{max} = 3 + 9.8 = 12.8 m$
