Solution:

Let's find the image of end A .

$\Rightarrow \frac{1}{V _{1}} + \frac{1}{45} = \frac{1}{30} \Rightarrow V_{1} = 90 cm$

⇒ Let's find the image of end $B$ .

$\Rightarrow \frac{1}{V _{2}} + \frac{1}{( 45 + 30 )} = \frac{1}{30} V_{2} = 50 cm \dots (ii) \Rightarrow So length of image = ∣ V_{1} - V_{2} ∣ = 40 cm$
