The metre bridge wireABshown in the adjoining figure is100 cmlong. WhenAD=30 cm,no deflection occurs in the galvanometer. What is the value ofR(in ohm)?

Answer:
14.00
Solution:

Letρbe the resistance per unit length of the metre bridge wire.

From the condition of balance of Wheatstone bridge.

PQ=RS

⇒  6R=30ρ100-30ρ=3070=37

⇒   R=7×63

⇒   R=14 Ω
