All resistances in figure are 1 Ω each. The value of current 'I' is a5 A. The value of a is _____ .

Question diagram: All resistances in figure are 1 Ω each. The value of current
Answer:
8.00
Solution:

Each pair on the right side of the circuit is in parallel connection, hence it can be replaced by a resistance of r2 as shown.

Now, r & r2 in each branch on the right side is in series, hence combined resistance value will be, 3r2. Upper branch having resistance 3r2 is in parallel with another 3r2, hence it can be written as 3r4.

Further, simplified circuit will have net resistance of 7r8.

Therefore, Req=7r8+r=78+1=158 Ω

Now, current I=3158=85 A

Hence, value of a=8.
