When two resistancesR1 and R2are connected in series, they consume12 Wpowers. When they are connected in parallel, they consume50 Wpowers. What is the ratio of the powers ofR1 and R2?

Options:

Answer:
C
Solution:

In series,

                           Ps=P1 ×P2P1+P2=12 W

In parallel,Pp=P1+P2=50 W

∴             P1P2=12×50=600

Now,P1-P22=P1+P22-4P1P2

                      =502-4×600

                       =2500-2400=100

∴        P1-P2=10

OrP1=30 W, P2=20 W

∴           P1P2=32
