LetSbe the set of all values ofa1for which the mean deviation about the mean of100consecutive positive integersa1,a2,a3,.,a100is25. ThenSis

Options:

Answer:
C
Solution:

Given,

a1  be any natural number

So, a1,a1+1,a1+2,.,a1+99 are values of ai or observation.

Now mean of the observation is given by,

x¯=a1+a1+1+a1+2+.+a1+99100

x¯=100a1+(1+2+..+99)100

x¯=a1+99×1002×100

x¯=a1+992

Mean deviation about mean=i=1100xi-x¯100

=2992+972+952+.+12100

=1+3+.+99100

=502[1+99]100

=25

So, it is true for every natural no. ' a1 ' as there is no term of a1 in mean deviation.
