Let A1,1, B-4,3,C-2,-5 be vertices of a triangle ABC, P be a point on side BC, and Δ1 and Δ2 be the areas of triangle APB and ABC.

Respectively.

If Δ1:Δ2=4:7, then the area enclosed by the lines AP,AC and the x-axis is

Question diagram: Let A 1 , 1 , B - 4 , 3 , C - 2 , - 5 be vertices of a trian

Options:

Answer:
C
Solution:

Plotting the given value in diagram we have,

Now let Px,y be a point on BC, so area formed by ABP will be,

 Δ1=12xy1111-431=12-2x-5y+7

And area of triangle formed by ABC will be, Δ2=12111-431-2-51=362

Given Δ1Δ2=47-2x-5y+736=47

  14x+35y=-95     1

Equation of BC by two point form will be 4x+y=-13      2

Solving equation 1 and 2 we get,

Point P-207,-117

Now equation of AP will be y-1=1+1171+207x-1

3y-2x=1,

So x-intercept will be point Q-12,0 and similarly from AC we get R12,0

So Area of triangle AQR=12×1×1=12
