Question diagram: If a ∆ A B C has vertices A – 1 , 7 , B – 7 , 1 and C 5 , –

Options:

Answer:
A
Solution:

Slope of line BC is mBC=6-12=-12

Slope of line AD=1mBC=2

 Equation of line AD is y-7=2x+1

y=2x+9 ...1

Slope of line AC is mAC=12-6=-2

Slope of line BE=1mAC=12

 Equation of BE is y-1=12x+7

y=x2+92 ...2

Comparing equations 1 & 2, we get

2x+9=x+92

4x+18=x+9

3x=-9x=-3

  y=2x+9=3

Therefore, orthocentre has co-ordinates -3,3.
