Let $\mathrm{x}=\mathrm{y}=1$

$\mathrm{F}(\mathrm{x})+\mathrm{f}(\mathrm{y})+\mathrm{f}(\mathrm{xy})=2+\mathrm{f}(\mathrm{x}).\mathrm{f}(\mathrm{y})$

$3f(1)=2+(f(1){)}^2\Rightarrow f(1)=1$, 2. But given that $\mathrm{f}(1)\ne 1$ so $\mathrm{f}(1)=2$

Now put $\mathrm{y}=\frac{1}{\mathrm{x}}$

$$f(x)+f\left(\frac{1}{x}\right)+f(1)=2+f(x)\cdot f\left(\frac{1}{x}\right)$$

so $\mathrm{f}(\mathrm{x})=\pm \mathrm{xn}+1$

Now $\mathrm{f}(4)=17\Rightarrow \pm (4{)}^{\mathrm{n}}+1=17\Rightarrow \mathrm{n}=2$

$$\mathrm{f}(\mathrm{x})=+(\mathrm{x}{)}^2+1$$
