LetS=1,2,3,4,5,6,7.Then the number of possible functionsf:SSsuch thatfm·n=fm·fnfor everym,nSandm·nS, is equal to _____.

Answer:
490.00
Solution:

Given,

fmn=fm·fn

Put m=1, then f1·n=f1·fnf1=1 fn0

Put m=n=2

f4=f2·f2

If f2=1, then f4=1 and if f2=2, then f4=4

Put m=2,n=3

f6=f2·f3

If f2=1, then f3 can be any value between 1 to 7

If f2=2, then f3 can be 1 or 2 or 3

Similarly f5,f7 can take any value from 1,2,...,7

So, total number of function =1×1×7×1×7×1×7+1×1×3×1×7×1×7

=490
