Sol. Both are 3-bromo-4-methylhexan-2-one (stereocentres C-3 and C-4). In (a) the C-4 methyl is behind and the C-3 bromine in front: (3S,4S); in (b) both are in front: (3S,4R). Only C-4 changes configuration, so they are not mirror images : diastereomers.
