4-methylaniline and 4 -aminobenzoic acid form cation with HCl and are then soluble in aq. Layer. So goes in filtrate of step-I. 3-chlorobenzoic acid is soluble in & goes in aq. Layer/ filterate of step 2. 2-Napthol is soluble in NaOH & insoluble in so it goes in filtrate of step-3.
