Cyclohexylamine when treated with nitrous acid yields (P). On treating (P) with PCC results in (Q). When (Q) is heated with dil.NaOHwe get (R) The final product (R) is:

Options:

Answer:
B
Solution:

Cyclohexylamine when treated with nitrous acid yields cyclohexanol. On treating cyclohexanol with PCC which is a mild oxidising agent and oxidises the alcohols into aldehyde (in case of primary alcohol) or ketones (in case of secondary alcohol) in the presence of dichloromethane results cyclohexanone. When cyclohexanone is heated with dilute NaOH dehydration of aldol takes place by the removal of water molecules we get the final product.
