How many of the transformation given below would result in aromatic amines?

Answer:
3.00
Solution:

Products in the given reactions are as follows:

1. Hoffmann bromamide degradation is useful in the production of aniline as it converts the -CONH2 functional group into the -NH2 group. So, we need to take a starting material that has the -CONH2 group and after getting converted into -NH2 group, the molecule obtained is aniline. So, in order to obtain aniline as the final product, we require Benzamide as a starting material. So, in this way, we can easily convert Benzamide to Aniline.

2. Gabriel phthalimide synthesis cannot be used to prepare aniline because aryl halides do not give Gabriel phthalimide reaction.

3. When nitrobenzene is reacted with an active metal like Pd/C and H2,  it produces aniline. This reaction is also called Nitrobenzene reduction.

4. When acetanilide is treated with dil. H2SO4, it produces aniline.

Aromatic amines will be formed in 1, 3 & 4.

So, answer is 3.
