Aniline reacts with Lewis acid$\left(\mathrm{A}\mathrm{l}\mathrm{C}{\mathrm{l}}_3\right)$to form anilinium complex.

As in the toluene$-{\text{CH}}_{\text{3}}$group is ring activating so toluene is most reactive among these for electrophilic substitution reaction. Chlorobenzene and benzamide do not give product in good yield for this reaction as -Cl and$-\mathrm{C}\mathrm{O}\mathrm{N}{\mathrm{H}}_2$are deactivating groups.
