Answer:
Solution:
Simple diffusion, Facilitated diffusion and Active transport are the three means of transport. In simple diffusion movement is passive and requires no energy. It takes place from a region of higher concentration to a lower concentration and does not require any special membrane proteins. Facilitated diffusion differs from simple transfusion in terms that membrane proteins help the transport of certain substances which do not diffuse readily owing to their hydrophilic nature although there is concentration gradient present across membrane. When all the transport proteins are used up the process reaches its saturation and no further diffusion occurs. When energy is used to transport molecules against concentration gradient it is called active transport. This transport of substances from lower concentration to higher concentration is also referred to as 'uphill' transport.
