Options:
Answer:
A
Solution:
One cell of the nucellus towards the micropylar end enlarges and derives nutrition from other nucellar cells. This is called megaspore mother cell. It undergoes meiosis to form a linear tetrad of four haploid megaspores. Out of these, three megaspores towards the micropylar end disintegrate. The one towards the chalaza is the functional megaspore.
