Answer:
Solution:
At the cellular level growth is due to an increase in the amount of protoplasm. However, it is difficult to measure the growth of protoplasm, but the protoplasm increase can be related to the increase in cell size, cell number, and cell size.
The quantitative growth can be measured in the increase in the fresh weight, dry weight, length, area, volume and cell number. The rate of growth is the growth per unit time and it is usually slow initially in early growth stages and later a rapid increase during the exponential phase is observed. A steady growth phase will be observed later with a decline phase.
