I. phosphoglycolate II. serine III. glyoxylate IV. glycine

The correct sequence of their appearance in the pathway is

Options:

Answer:
B
Solution:

Photorespiration is a metabolic process occurring in C3 plants, which is dependent on light and results in evolution ofCO2. Rubisco enzyme catalyses fixation ofO2instead ofCO2fixation which occurs during dark phase of photosynthesis. During this process 3-phosphoglycerate and 2-phosphoglycolate are formed, out of which 2-phosphoglycolate are not useful to the plants and it might interfere in functioning of chloroplast. Overall photorespiration pathway involves movement of intermediate metabolites in various cell organelles.
