Solution:

National forest policy (1988) of India has recommended 33% forest cover for the plains and 67% for the hills. Realising the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the water bodies, the government of India has passed the Water (prevention and control of pollution) Act,1974. In India, The air (prevention & Control of Pollution) Act came into force in 1981, but amended in 1987 to include noise as a pollutant. Recognising the deleterious affects of ozone depletion, an international treaty, known as the Montreal Protocol, was signed at Montreal (Canada) in 1987 (effective in 1989) to control the emission of ozone-depleting substances.
