The basic structure of the cell membrane
Options:
Answer:
A
Solution:
Plasma membrane or the cell membrane separates the inside environment of cell from the outside environment. It protects the cell from the exterior environment. The cell membrane is mainly made of proteins and phospholipids. The phospholipids are arranged in a bilayer pattern with the hydrophobic tail on the inside and the hydrophilic head towards the outside. This protects the tail from aqueous environment and serves as a barrier to water-soluble molecule. The proteins are found on the surface of the membrane and also embedded within the membrane.
