During which phase of cell cycle amount of DNA in a cell remains at 4C level if the initial amount is denoted as2C?

Options:

Answer:
C
Solution:

Cell cycle consists of interphase and mitotic (M) phase. Interphase is divided intoG1, SandG2stages. The mitotic phase is the actual division phase and is divided into karyokinesis and cytokinesis. DNA is seen in all phases. In the M phase both 4C and 2C of DNA is seen. In S phase the synthesis of DNA takes place and hence the amount of DNA doubles. Thus after S phase in G2 phase the DNA doubles i.e. it becomes 4C.
